We were nominated by our friend John from Paol Soren to post one favorite travel picture a day for ten days without explanation, then to nominate someone else to participate. That’s 10 days, 10 travel pictures, and 10 nominations. We accepted because we like him, but we can’t stick to the rules.
We have one follower bail every time we post a travel photo in this challenge. Is it the challenge or the rule breaking? At the same time, there is definitely some strong support in terms of likes and comments. We hate losing followers, but, Really? We’ll just go on! This inspired both of today’s nominations: a stats loving guy and a defiant lady.
Remember Pete? He suggested we nominate Jim from Borden’s Blather (we were going to anyway), and we would also like to bring in Jennifer from Still Bitchy After 60, so go and check out both their blogs!
Jim and Jenn, please don’t feel obligated, but If you choose to participate please link to me so that your readers can come and visit here. If you want to post just 1 or 5 or none, that’s okay too; we just wanted to send people over to your site!
These photos do not do this statue justice.
Tomorrow, when I reveal the location, Google it and look for better more images!
We promised lots of rule breaking, so here we go:
- Rule break number 1: I will reveal the location of the previous post the day after I post it. So here we go: yesterday’s photo is the Reading Pennsylvania pagoda atop Penn Mountain. We hope you enjoyed it.
- Rule break number 2: this week we are posting 2 photos; back and front of the same statue.
- Rule break number 3: Jim was nominated by both Pete and us.
- Rule break number 4: instead of one, we nominated two people.
- Rule break number 5: we are not supposed to write anything other than the blurb that came with the nomination.
And a partridge in a pear tree.
Ha! You rebel! The statue is stunning.
Thank you, Linda! I can’t help it and I just made everything more complicated, didn’t I?
So what’s the punishment for rule breaking? Jail time? 28 days of self quarantine?
And will there be a winner for best photos? What’s the prize?
Your pictures are beautiful!
Like a song I love says ‘signs, signs, can’t you read the signs…’ it’s about a life choice with too many rules!
There is no punishment, only rewards (unless you count losing followers as a punishment). Rule breaking is an art when it’s done to make something better or more rewarding. Knowing when to follow the rules is also a good practice 🙂
That is a great statue. How could you not post two photos. Thanks for sharing you and being adventurous. Stay well.
Thanks, Allan! I am doing my best to stay adventurous!
That statue is fantastic!
It is amazing!
What a beautiful statue. Glad you broke the rules and posted two pictures! I’m curious to know where this is.
Tomorrow 🙂 and I should have taken better photos of it…there are amazing photos online so look it up tomorrow!
You had me at Still Bitchy After 60—that name is brilliant, as if bitchiness runs out at a certain age. I’m signing up at Jennifer’s blog. I told myself NO MORE BLOGS, but apparently that’s the rule I’m breaking today. ????
On a more serious note, one of the things I was most grateful for as my mom’s dementia progressed was that she always retained her pleasant nature. That was not true of many other people living at her memory care facility.
Pete, you just made this challenge worthwhile <3 I love reading her bitchy entries and also the ones that are not so bitchy. You are very fortunate to have positive memories of your mom all the way through dementia! But this also explain some things about your DNA!
thanks for the nomination, but I usually do not participate in these types of challenges. But like Pete, I do like the rule-breaking component you added to this one. I also noticed that yesterday.s photo was from Reading, PA, only about an hour from where I live…
No worries! The idea is to send readers your way. Glad that you like my rule breaking – I do too! I can’t give you credit for identifying the photo since I wrote it above…I guess you missed it 🙂
I didn’t know what the photo was until you told us 🙂
Haha, I misunderstood, I thought you were identifying the photo 🙂 This is actually a strange coincidence that I chose the photo to go along with mentioning your blog! If you are an hour away and haven’t been, take a drive up that mountain. Good views!
but that would be pretty sneaky, guessing the photo after you reveal what it is…I’ve been to Reading to see a baseball game, seems like I need to go back!
The view from the top is amazing, so if you have a chance it’s worth a visit.
thanks!
Spent a large part of my career writing policies and procedures to keep people following the rules and hopefully keeping the power on in Ontario without killing themselves. Challenges like this this remind me of work and picking people to present is like a schoolyard best team pick. Its like telling an artist, today you will paint one picture and then one each day for ten days whether you like it not! Creativity flows from within on our own timelines. No wonder followers wander off. I prefer challenges like tell me about something important to you in one or more photos. I’m not sure if I’m a follower, but if I am, I’ll stay.
Ah, policies and procedures…I am very familiar with those and not always in the context of saving lives. To be honest your comment read almost like a dear John letter, so I was surprised, but very very happy that you are staying 🙂 I think that many RVer readers thought that we will be writing RV studd all the time because we were very busy with fixing our Banff, but luckily we don’t have to fix too much any more 🙂 I hope that we can connect next time we are PD.
Thanks for the second photo. Obviously a Native American. A await the reveal. Congrats on the rule breaks.
I love it! I keep coming up with more ideas how to break the rules and there are so many! Yup, there is a Native American background to this statue!
Found it in Chamberlain, SD
You did!
This is huge statue!
It really is! It has an amazing presence over the landscape, and at night, they light it up for a different kind of impact.
