Just as we were thinking that we should add some beach-esque elements to our new house by the beach, we received an email from Stencil Revolution asking if we would like to review their products.
We browsed their website and chose a few designs that looked like a good fit, some nautical, some not. We let them know which stencils we would like to review and soon after the package arrived in the mail.
The reusable stencils are of high quality and very sturdy.
For our first projects we chose a few planks of wood that we had prepared for sign-making,
and a couple of night tables that we painted blue in celebration of our new very-close-to-the-beach house.
We decided to stencil the mandalas on the night tables.
We used this adhesive spray to secure the stencil in place.
Stencil Revolution has detailed instructional videos on their site with some great tips that proved very important.
The high quality of the stencils made them very easy to work with,
and we were very pleased with the results. The colour is a bit off in these photos, but that’s on me.
Isn’t this a beautiful mandala?
These will go in the guest room.
For our second attempt we chose the “take me to the beach” stencil
and followed the same procedure.
Reveal time!
We made one on a lightly blue washed surface,
and one on a natural wood background. Which one do you prefer? We really can’t decide.
Now we just need to place them pointing in the right direction and follow the road to the beach.
We love how these turned out. We still have a few designs to experiment with, but our month-long forced exile in Florida and our current trip to Denver put our crafting spirit on standby. We’ll keep you posted on the next Stencil Revolution project.
They look great! What a fun way to personalize your decor.
Thanks. It was fun!
Looks good. We did something similar on our deck, but with 42 repeats. A lot of work, but so worth it. Allan
We are thinking of applying the anchor stencil to a few places on the wooden fence, I think it will look nice there.
I love how the beach signs came out. The tables look very pretty.
We were pretty happy with them too, and it was really easy to do!
I wonder how they would work on RV wall paper?
That’s a good question. I think it depends on the material and texture of the wallpaper.
I am guessing my wallpaper is to rough. Maybe I’ll freehand something.
The only issue with rough texture is that the paint will bleed because you won’t be able to get the stencil flush enough. You may be able to do something with a design that doesn’t have too much detail.
That is a thought. I’ll check out out the stencil company. I made dragonfly stencils for my house and used them on one wall I. master suite. I really loved how they came out.
Funny, I was just looking at the dragonfly design. They are beautiful!
I’ll check them out. I’ve loved dragonflies since I was a little girl. I have been thrilled to see all the dragonflies in the Delta.
I love the stencils! They look wonderful. And I love the furniture and signage of your beach house – so summery and cheerful!
They were fun and easy to make. We were pleasantly surprised with the results ????
They look really good, but what if the beach is in the other direction?
Then you put it on the other side of the room ????
I especially like the ‘Take me to the Beach” one.
I like those too!
What a neat idea. I really like the colour of the night tables. A light, warm colour. The sign colours both look good to me. I guess it would depend on what you’re coordinating it with. What fun!! ????
Thanks, Linda. I guess you are right, slightly different styles that would work with different decors.
Love the mandala
❤️
How neat! I haven’t worked with stencils since I was a kid, but this takes the artform to a whole new level. The finished product looks great!
Thank you! It was a child’s play ????
Those look amazing! Is it hard to do?
It was super easy! Choosing the stencils was the hardest part ???? You need a round tip brush, masking tape, and some paint.
I was looking back through your posts trying to find an article on your new house. How exciting! Between our water homes and vans we have similar goals in retirement! Cheers!
Did you find it? We are loving our life near the lake!
I just found it! Your USA/Canada water split is much like our California/Nevada split. Our split looks like clock hands pointing to 5:00. So bars say it is 5 o’clock somewhere! I am really happy for you! Great job with the stencil review!
It certainly is 5 o’clock somewhere 🙂
That’s awesome!!
What a neat idea to use stencils to spruce up some of your furniture and to create some artwork for your house. I love the nautical designs and they seem very appropriate in your new house. I like the natural wood background slightly more, but they are both nice options.
It was fun to do! I have to be careful not to over do it ????
Such an incredible area to see. I would love to visit there.
Anita
I think this was meant for another post ????
Fun stuff!
It was!
