Chainsaw Massacre – Tiny Home Edition

We like spontaneous travel, but we also like to be prepared. For example, if we happen upon a tree in the middle of the road, we need to have a chainsaw to clear it out of the way, right?

We don’t really have the space for a chainsaw or for the Jerrycan that needs to accompany it, so we upcycle a chain that we had lying around in the garage and made it into a working manual chain saw.  It’s mighty, but fits in tiny spaces!

The chain needed to be outfitted with handles on each side.  We used an aluminum rod.

Drilled a hole for the chain to fit through.

Taped the chain close to the handles for hand protection.

and that’s it,

it’s ready to use!

The manual chainsaw is very efficient because of the curve as it covers a larger area.  It went through this branch in seconds.

It doesn’t take up a lot of storage space and you can forget about it until you are in a bind and need a chainsaw.

If you don’t want to make your own, or if you don’t happen to have a spare chain, you can buy a ready-made one.  There is a large variety on Amazon and they are actually pretty cheap.
