Winter Wonderland Blahs

We wonder what happened to fall.  We are also a bit resentful that we are still here when there is so much winter outside…

This is not what we signed up for!

When we bought the campervan, all we saw was the promise of sunshine and rainbows, beaches and desert trails, with mountain backdrops and wildlife surprises in the mornings.  We didn’t think that we’ll spend much time in this snowy kingdom watching our world turn white yet again.  Isn’t this why we got this van?

Yet, here we are.  Partly due to change in plans mentioned in the previous post, and partly, because winter came really early this year – mid-October!  We already had several snowfalls and it’s not letting up at all.  The van, AKA the brown elephant,  is winterized and wrapped up in an oversize tarp and is patiently waiting for us to take her on her next adventure.

We were so busy since August with van modifications and short travels on top of our regular work and the prospect of sitting and watching the snow accumulate does not sit well with us, so we got busy again.

We also remembered that we have an Etsy store that was badly neglected since January due to excessive travel schedule.  We have a lot of trees on our properties and we love making things out of fallen trees and branches.  They are great for Christmas decorations. This time we made some RV friendly designs!  These would work well over the rear-view mirror as well.

Tony finished a side table that he started last year; after last year’s storms we were able to salvage a few large pieces of wood and saved them for future projects.  You can see the top of the table in the photo acting as a back drop. Pretty, isn’t it?

We also made a few coasters, wrote a short story and submitted to a writing competition (wish us luck!), and finally replaced all the lights in the house to LED lights.

So looks like our winter may be filled with crafting, working, and writing.  Hopefully we’ll be able to squeeze in a jaunt or two to warmer destinations, but if not, we’ll have fun doing other things that will take our mind of the terrible whiteness outside.

We hope you all have a busy, lovely winter wherever you are and whatever it is that you’ll be doing!

You guys make some really creative stuff!! I like the trailer icons. There is a company in Montreal that can print your images on anything..mugs, t-shirts, etc. They also will ship on your behalf. I’ll send you a link.

If you place a big yellow bow on the brown elephant. It would be a huge Christmas present sitting in your yard waiting to be unwrapped, and when that happens, your back on the road!!

    Good luck.

We would love to hear from you!
