You can find earthships in most countries, but just outside of Taos there is an abundance of these unique structures. The pleasing scenic setting and lighting in this photo is very pleasing, but not the reason it is here. This photo is one of our favourites is because to us, it represents a coalescence of vision, passion, and taking your values to a higher ground. Have a wonderful day!
I know that exact house! Isn’t that the strangest collection of eclectic houses! Great shot!
Thanks. It’s an amazing area to drive through, isn’t it?
These look so neat, I’ve always wanted to stay in one!
I know! You can tour some of them, but we didn’t get a chance to do that 🙁
Is that just an above ground bomb shelter?
This is actually a house 🙂 It’s a passive solar structure that is usually made natural and upcycled materials such as earth-packed tires. Many of them are found around Taos where this photo was taken.
They’re eco friendly houses built – I believe – entirely from recycled materials
How unique! I wish I could see inside. Thank you.
They are really cool! Thanks for reading!
Wow. I love both the photo and the concept.
Thanks! You can’t go wrong with this kind of sky!
I love the how you captured the dramatic lighting and angles of the landscape! There’s so much to New Mexico that I haven’t seen yet, but I’m drawn to going back someday to discover more. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Yeah, we are really looking forward for another visit to New Mexico!
Beautiful sky for a strange house. I have just done some research, it must be a fun to look for angles and shapes there. Thanks for the introduction.
Glad it caught your interest! I hope next time we’ll be able to visit one inside.
Looks Beautiful!
Thanks!
