This vivid and stubborn plant broke ground in an arid, semi-desert part of Israel. The Jerusalem Autumn Crocus (Colchicum hierosolymitanum), now rare and protected, was once common around Jerusalem. It seems like an impossible and futile effort, yet here it is vibrant and very much alive.
Gorgeous.
So fragile, yet so strong. Thanks!
What a beautiful flower. I hope it makes a comeback.
Me too! It was almost shocking to see it bloom through this hard packed desert soil.
Just beautiful!
It’s a very pretty flower indeed!
I am biased towards purple flowers 🙂
Seems symbolic for the year. It is continuing to survive despite the difficulties.
It sure does! I didn’t even think about that 🙂
Given the historical context around the country, this amazing plant looks like a symbol, summing up the resilience of the peoples of the region.
I love how your comment brings in a whole new dimension to this photo ❤️
Lovely 😍
A hardy splash of color in the desert, lovely.
Thank you! Flowers in the desert are lovely!
This looks amazing….making the dry arid region come alive with its soothing hues. I hope it flourishes again.
I hope so too! it’s such a pretty little flower.
Beauty in the desert!
It is!
