Reflections

We all slept in on the first day of 2021.  Partly because we stayed up to make sure we get rid of 2020 with a kick in the back end.  Partly because we washed out the year with lots of wine; so much wine that we didn’t crack open the champagne.  But perhaps the main reason was to fully cleanse ourselves from 2020.

Actually it was probably just the wine.

Not really ones for new year resolutions, we did not make any plans for change.  This is something that we do almost daily.  Nor do we believe that the fact that a year changed one digit may have any impact on life events, but for some reason, and despite the wine, we woke up with a spring in our step.

We even cleaned the house.

Most of the year is blurry and we feel lucky that we write so many posts to help us remember what we did.  We feel lucky to have the campervan that allowed us to travel safely once the restrictions were lifted.  Between our southern travel in the 2 months before the pandemic, and our travels in Ontario between the two lockdowns, we were able to spend 40 days on the road and clock 12,000km!

We love how we rediscovered Ontario this year.  The north, the west, the small towns, the beaches…so much to explore and enjoy and we are so thankful that we were able to do so much of it this year.

Whatever 2021 brings our way, be it travel or staying put.  Work, or play; we’ll try and make the best of it.  As long as we stay healthy, share some laughs and memories with our loved ones, we are happy.  If our posts made someone smile, ponder, or explore something new, we are happy about that too.

Since this post is titled (perhaps erroneously) reflections, and since we have a hard time posting without photos, here are a few of our favourite reflection photos. Enjoy!

For the coming months we share hope with the rest of the world.  Hope for this pandemic to go away, for humans beings to be humane, kind and forgiving to each other and to their planet.  We are just hoping for a brighter, kinder future.

Be happy, stay safe, live well!

Honestly, I went to bed two hours before it struck midnight to ring in the New Year; I was too tired to stay up! Awesome that you did, and I agree that here’s hoping that 2021 is better. Reflections can be taken in the figurative and literal sense, and it looks like you accomplished both in this post! Take care, and stay safe. 🙂

I also find it difficult to post without a photo. On the one of the Gaspé Peninsula, I recognize La Martre lighthouse. Yes I know, the Challenge is over but I kept the tic 🙂

Love the pictures and the idea of putting 2020 well behind us. I am puzzling over the caption “Upper State NY” I am a life long New Yorker (the state not the City) and no of no such place. “Up State” is generally anything north of the City, Northern NY is that portion north of a line from Albany to Syracuse encompassing the Adirondacks. Finger Lake region extends from Rochester to the Southern Tier and west of Rochester you are in Western NY. So where was that beautiful picture taken? My first thought was Northern NY in the Adirondack Mountains.

It’s mind boggling just how huge Ontario is! But that just means there is so much to discover and explore. 12,000km is impressive!! Ford is branding 2021 as the year of the staycation, so who knows, you might just exceed that distance this year.

It is huge, but part of the 12k is going all the way to Texas and Back in December and January just before the pandemic. I’m pretty sure we’ll be able to do some travelling in Ontario and perhaps some other provinces. WHat will be even more amazing is if we are able to go visit our daughter in the US!

The best of the best! In however small, or an extreme grandeur way we tend to reflect upon, it still is worth all the treasure in life! Thank you for sharing “hope”! We marched ahead into this great year filled with positivity and hope to bring and settle in all the much-needed “health” that this world deserves to win!

We would love to hear from you!
