Stegosaurus Ridge With New Friends

One of the best things about blogging is meeting other bloggers.  It gets even better when you get to meet them in person.  Julia, Bruce and Nox, their cute little dog, invited us over for a visit and we jumped on the opportunity to meet them in person.  Go over and check out their blog, Retirement RV Dream, and their journey towards retirement in an RV full-time.

Julia and Bruce are staying in an RV park in Golden just a half an hour drive from us and we drove over on a warm and sunny Sunday.  On the agenda: RV tour and a hike.

We toured their gorgeous fifth wheel home and although I was so mesmerized that I forgot to take photos.  Their RV has a huge kitchen that includes a full size fridge, an oven, a dishwasher, and an island with a 4-burner stove top.  There is lots of space and storage and looks very comfortable, even when downsizing from a big house.  They even have a washer and dryer in the bedroom!

After the lengthy tour we offered a tour of our van. Well that took about 30 seconds, 40 seconds tops, and we were ready to go for a hike.

We started off along the plateau above the RV park towards Stegosaurus Ridge.

As we started ascending Stegosaurus Ridge, the views got better and better.

When we reached the crest of the ridge

we took in the views all around us in every direction.

The trail continued on along the ridge and past several abandoned mines

We have yet to find out what exactly these mines were; there are about 23,000 such mines in the state of Colorado. Perhaps a visit to the nearby Mines Museum is in our future.

The vegetation this time of the year is at varying degrees of dryness, which holds its own beauty.

The cloud formations over the next range of mountains was preparing for a spectacular light show for us later on.

Stegosaurus Ridge

We passed several rock formations

Stegosaurus Ridge

and a few more,

Stegosaurus Ridge

admired the long views

Stegosaurus Ridge

and the beautiful light over the hills, before starting our way back.

Looking at the ridge from our vantage point revealed the ridge in full view, and perhaps the reason it was named Stegosaurus Ridge.

Stegosaurus Ridge

We made our way back through the rock formations.  Nox walked for a really long time, but at this point she asked to be carried and Bruce held her in his arms most of the way back.

Stegosaurus Ridge

Denver glowed under the last rays of the sun in the distance

And golden clouds floated over Golden.

Thanks, Julia, Bruce, and Nox for a lovely visit!   Julia also wrote a post about our visit and you can check it out here.

I had to reread your post to find out who Nox. I was like, whoa, he carried his wife back? 🤣 Beautiful country—looks like there wasn’t another soul around.

So much of those photographs are like the area around Ballarat and the western district of Victoria. And isn’t it fun to meet bloggers who have been virtual friends and you can talk and look at the smiles in their eyes. I have three special virtual/real Australian friends and when I was in England just before Covid I met and stayed with two long time friends.

That’s so interesting that you say this! A lot of your photos have a very familiar quality to them and I thought that it reminded me of Israel, but now that you mention it, I can see the resemblance to this part of Colorado! I hope we will get to meet more blogging friends!

Wow, Stegosaurus Ridge really looks to resemble the spine of a stegosaurus! To be able to meet other bloggers in real life can be such a surreal, but fun experience. Glad you were able to meet them (and make friends) during your time over there!

We would love to hear from you!
