Stopped for breakfast at Katherine Cove.
A peek at the the Group of Seven installation,
and a stroll on the beach.
We missed the rugged granite shield rocks.
Approaching Wawa, we drove a few kilometres south of town to the beautiful Magpie Falls.
These waterfalls can be fierce at times and swimming here is not a good idea…
We just needed to get gas in Wawa and since we’ve seen the town and goose before, we just made a quick stop by Wawa lake to take a look at the small outdoors museum.
This installation is dedicated to mining, historically a backbone industry in Wawa.
This machine was used to drill ore, the rock that you see in the foreground.
A quick walk around the beach and we were off to the park.
Apologies for the blurry signs. Here are a few more. Sorry.
At around 2pm, we arrived at our park and settled in. We received an enthusiastic welcome from park staff, a camp host bin of stuff, and an orientation. We will let you know what camp hosting is all about in future posts.
Internet here is sporadic at best, so we will miss many of your posts and won’t be able to comment much. We will try and post, read your comments, and if we can, reply.
Enjoy!
Thank you!
Love the Magpie Falls. and around us, Wawa is an iconic name for a chain of beloved convenience stores, that use a goose as its logo!
I remember having a similar conversation with you last time we drove through Wawa. I had the pleasure to sample your Wawa’s sandwiches on our trip to Florida since then.
I try to mention Wawa every chance I get! I hope you enjoyed your visit to Wawa in Florida…
The falls look scary and the drill head through the rock is interesting. Enjoy your time.
Thank you!
Love that waterfall. It looks like it was very fierce for sure. Enjoyed your photos and your running commentary.
Thank you!
Looks like a wonderful trip continues to be had. Wawa is a lovely town. Did you visit Sandy Beach there? It’s a beautiful spot. Magpie Falls looks awesome. Will have to visit it next time. We enjoyed a stop at Katherine Cove on our way back from Thunder Bay in 2020. So scenic!
We did visit the beach! It’s a beautiful area for sure. Hopefully you get to go back!
Such a beautiful part of Canada. We enjoyed our visit there in 2018. Thanks for the memories. Allan
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
One of the things that amazes me in your photos is it appears no one else is around. We were on the American side of Lake Superior on our last family reunion and went to a beautiful spot called Gooseberry Falls.
What an interesting area. I love the falls and the mining information. Now I’m looking forward to your next post. Have fun!
Thanks you and I am on it!
It is starting to be shoulder season now, but even during the season you don’t see extreme number of people around. It can get busier. I will check Gooseberry Falls if we are in the area!
That is a unique looking waterfall!
It is!
Really interesting locations here. Love that waterfall. The ore drilling work is very impressive. Continue to enjoy Canada!
Yeah, there are some things to see for sure!
Another wonderful adventure from you! Gotta love that camper van life, huh?
Haha, we sure do love it!
That is a rather amazing looking waterfall. Very unique!
It was really cool!
Nice waterfall. Good luck with the camp hosting! I hope it’s fun.
Thank you! So far we are enjoying it!
Once again a treat to see the photos and learn about another of your adventures. Neat! All the best, Muriel
And Happy New Year!
Glad to have you on our trip!
We totally missed Magpie Falls during our multiple road trips up north. Glad to see what we were missing. What a beautiful waterfall.
You may have to come back 🙂
This looks like a great park. How did I get so far behind on your posts?! I looked it up on a map. Someday if I do a road trip over the great lakes, this would be on the list.
I find it hard to keep up especially with people who post a lot. Glad you are able to catch up a little. And yes, there are amazing parks along Lake Superior!
