We interrupt our Lake Superior travel series for a breaking Coronavirus Diaries update.
The deer stopped coming to eat in the paddock at dusk. We thought it moved on, either to another world, or to literally greener pastures. The deer vanished.
We wondered why the deer was alone. Was it a young buck looking for a mate? Will it be back?
It must have been at least a couple of weeks, maybe more.
All of a sudden the deer was back.
We were having dinner on the deck, and all of a sudden, there it was again grazing leisurely in the paddock as if nothing happened.
And then there was another one, and another one.
Yay, we have babies.
These babies are the most adorable thing ever. Here they are all playing <3
They were so playful and stuck around for a really long time, running around while Mom was calmly grazing. Hopefully, they will be back often.
Oh, and since we are on the subject of cute animals, here is a Penny update.
She has grown so much, and is quite foxy!
Now we can go back to our Lake Superior trip. Stay tuned.

Aww, I hope it is okay and returns
Wonderful post. Those deer playing were so much fun to watch. Wish we had deer around here, but they seem to frequent more isolated areas. That Penny is a gorgeous little dog.
We haven’t seen them much in the 20 years we lived here until we no longer had horses. They now graze in the horses paddocks without interruption 🙂
Me too!
The deer are adorable and so much fun to watch. Dear Penny is really cute with her toy. 💕
Aren’t they? An yeah, Penny has all sorts of toys that she is very attached to!
We see deer around us nearly every day, but I’ve never seen them playing like that before. What a delight!
Same here! I had no idea that they were so playful!
What a show! Thanks for sharing.
It was great. I hope they come back!
Love it! We had twin fawns born June 6 and they returned and romped regularly in our field from July 2 through the summer. We saw them again yesterday–spots gone and they’re almost all grown up. 🙂 It’s been a delightful time to be home…
It’s amazing to watch. You are so lucky to see them so often! And I agree, being home this year was a wildlife delight!
I’m sure that was a wonderful site to see; the young deer seem to be enjoying themselves!
It was a lot of fun, I hope they come back!
it sounds like they are close by…
